1. How Needham Voted in the State Primary—The local results of Thursday’s State Primary mirrored statewide numbers as Needham and Massachusetts voters alike chose Democrat Joe Kennedy III and Republican Sean Bielat to go head-to-head in the race for Congressman Barney Frank’s Fourth District seat in the Nov. 6 election.
2. Emergency Crews Fight Car Fire on 128 South—Commuters traveling on 128 South faced backed-up traffic as emergency crews fought a car fire that forced them to temporarily shut down the highway Wednesday evening. Later reports revealed that some Good Samaritans helped pull the driver to safety.
3. Alarm System May Have Saved Man's Life in Pine Street Fire—A Pine Street resident was able to make it to safety after a fire broke out in the attic of his home early Monday morning, thanks to working smoke detectors that were tied to an alarm system that notified the local fire department.
4. Police Reports: Watertown Man Arrested for B&E—A Watertown man was arrested for breaking into a Needham home on Saturday, Sept. 1 after he was picked up by police in the area shortly afterward.
5. Needham Police, Fire To Mark 9/11 Anniversary—Needham will remember 9/11 quietly this year, on the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that shook the nation and took the lives of at least three Needham residents.
6. Robert Jubinville Wins Governor's Council Primary—Election officials announced Thursday night that Robert Jubinville won the contested primary for the Governor's Council second district. 
7. Kennedy and Bielat to Face off in November for Fourth Congressional District Seat—After months of campaigning across a large and newly redrawn district, the pool of Fourth Congressional District candidates has officially been whittled down from six to two. Democrat Joe Kennedy III and Republican Sean Bielat will be the two names on the November ballot for the Fourth Congressional District, according to reports from the Associated Press.
8. New School Food Rules: What You Should Know—As students return to school this fall, school cafeterias across America will be doing things a little differently as they prepare to feed “their kids” and strive to meet tough new federal nutrition standards for school meals. Ruth Griffin, director of nutrition services for Needham Public Schools, shares details about the new USDA standards and how they’re being implemented in Needham.
9. Meet the Artist… This week, Patch chatted with “A Chair To Remember” artist Marcia Michelson.
