A look at some of the top stories on Needham Patch last week.

Town Ready to Tackle Streetscaping Project--At the selectmen’s meeting on Tuesday, May 22, Department of Public Works Director Richard Merson announced the “beginning of another exciting project,” saying he and others in town are ready to get to work on development of the downtown area based on a series of studies the town has conducted over the past several years.
Town Manager Clears Up Senior Center Question--After receiving several inquiries about construction at the site of the new senior center, Town Manager Kate Fitzpatrick spoke briefly about the project during Tuesday night's selectmen's meeting.
Volante Farms Ice Cream Stand Opens Today--Volante Farms held a grand opening for its new ice cream stand on Friday, May 25. The ice cream stand is the final stage of Volante Farms' recent renovations and will feature hand-scooped, locally made Crescent Ridge ice cream and frozen yogurt.
Needham Families Invited to Join Fitness Contest--Vo2max Fitness, a new personal training center in Needham, is looking for families in Needham and Wellesley to compete in a six-month competition to be named “Fittest Family.”
Images of Needham's Agricultural Past Shared on Farmers Market Site--The latest gallery containing old photographs from Needham's past was posted Monday on the Needham Farmers Market website, needhamfarmersmarket.org.
Rockets Review: Boys Tennis Takes South Titles--Needham singles players Aaron Revzin and Aaron Segel rolled through the Division I South Section as the No. 1 and 2 seeds respectively only to face each other in the title match on Sunday, May 20. Revzin then showed why he has been the Rockets' No. 1, taking down Segel 6-2 and 6-4.
Girls LAX, Boys Volleyball Tourney Schedule Announced--The MIAA this week announced the Needham High School boys volleyball and girls lacrosse state tournament seedings and schedules. After a 19-1(11-0 BSC) season that saw the NHS girls lacrosse team defeat 15 state tournament-qualifying teams, the Rockets earned the No. 1 seed in the Division I South Section. For the NHS boys volleyball team, their 16-4 (14-2 BSC) record was good enough to earn them the No. 3 seed in the Division I South Section.
