Police Reports: Weekend Rollover Shut Down Great Plain Avenue

Great Plain Avenue in Needham was closed down for about two hours on Saturday, Oct. 6 after the trailer on a vehicle making a sharp left turn rolled over onto its side.
Police were called to Great Plain Avenue near the Route 128 overpass at around 11:06 a.m. for the report of a vehicle crash with property damage. When police officer arrived, they found that a hydraulic boom lift and trailer were lying on their side, still attached to a dump truck, which was blocking traffic. The driver had just exited Route 128 south and was turning left onto Great Plain Avenue when the trailer rolled over onto its right side, according to police reports.
Great Plain Avenue was closed down while the equipment was removed from the roadway.
The driver, a 29-year-old male, was cited for failure to use care while turning.

A Walnut Street resident reported on Sunday, Oct. 7 that a sandbox had been stolen from his front yard.
Newton Driver Arrested for OUI
A Newton man was arrested for drunk driving after he was confronted by a Needham police officer running a security check at the Sheraton Hotel in Needham on Sunday, Oct. 7.
While patrolling the parking lot at around 12:20 a.m., the officer checked on a vehicle driven by Igor Bratnikov, 26, of Newton, and determined that he was operating under the influence of alcohol.
Vehicle Window Damaged
A Lynn Road resident reported on Saturday, Oct. 6 that the back window of his vehicle had been damaged while he was at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Gould Street. The damage appeared to be environmental.
Hit and Run Near Greene’s Field
A Bobsled Drive resident who was parked at Greene’s Field on Pickering Street reported that someone hit her vehicle and left the scene on Saturday, Oct. 6. The woman said the vehicle had been parked for about two hours. Damage was done to the vehicle’s left front fender. The suspect’s vehicle was reportedly white.
