Police Reports: Tinted Plates Lead to Arrest

A Dorchester man faces several charges after he was stopped in Needham for having tinted license plate covers and was found to have a suspended license.
Needham Police stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Great Plain Avenue and Whiting Way around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 after observing that the vehicle had tinted plastic covers on both the front and rear license plates, which violates Massachusetts motor vehicle laws, according to police reports. After running the license plate information through the Registry of Motor Vehicles system, the officer found that the plates were registered to another vehicle, owned by the same driver.
The driver, a 36-year-old Dorchester man, was also found to have a suspended license. He was arrested for driving with a suspended license and also charged with attaching plates and obstructing license plates.

Teen Picked Up for Public Drunkedness
A local teenager who had allegedly been drinking was taken into protective custody after police found him kicking over a sign in front of Webster Green late last Friday night.
A Needham Police officer on patrol in the area of Highland Avenue near Newton around 10:45 p.m. on Friday, June 17 observed a teen “staggering on the sidewalk” in front of the Webster Green apartments. The boy, identified as a 15-year-old Needham resident, was kicking over a marketing sign in front of the apartment building when the officer pulled up in his cruiser, according to police reports.
The teen smelled of alcohol and allegedly told the officer he had been drinking, according to reports. He was taken into protective custody and brought to his parents’ house.
Suspicious Man Reported at Claxton Playground
A woman called police around 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16 to report she had seen a suspicious-looking man wearing a bicycle helmet and carrying a metal golf club near the Claxton Field playground.
The woman described the suspicious person as a white, heavyset, middle-aged man with dark hair and a dark beard, wearing a dark-colored windbreaker jacket and bicycle helmet. He was riding a bicycle and carrying a metal golf club, according to reports.
Several police officers checked the area but did not find anyone matching the description.
Suspicious Phone Calls Reported
A Fairfield Street resident called police on Monday, June 13 to report suspicious phone calls. The incidents remain under investigation.
