Police Reports: Parking Meter Hit; Driver Flees Scene

The following information was supplied by the Needham Police Department. Any charges mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

A parking meter at the intersection of Dedham Avenue and Lincoln Street was hit and the driver fled the scene sometime in the early morning on Wednesday, Jan. 11.

A Needham officer on patrol around 1:50 a.m. found the damaged meter as well as pieces of a vehicle believed to be a Honda, according to reports. The meter was destroyed, and coins were still inside a piece of the meter.

Person Injured In Two-Car Crash
One person was injured and another person cited for failure to use care in a two-vehicle crash that occurred just before 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 9. The incident occurred at the intersection of Nehoiden Street and Parish Road. The crash was identified as “minor”; however, one person was transported for medical treatment, according to reports.

Teen Backs Car Into House
A teenager on Hawthorn Avenue accidentally backed her parents’ vehicle into their house, causing some damage.

The incident occurred on Monday, Jan. 9 around 7:25 p.m. The resident told police his 18-year-old daughter had been backing the car into the driveway when she struck the house, according to reports. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed.

Man Driving With Revoked License
A 21-year-old New Hampshire man was cited for driving with a revoked registration in Needham on Monday, Jan. 9. The man’s vehicle was stopped on Highland Avenue, and when the officer checked the vehicle’s registration, she found it had been revoked. The vehicle was towed, and the man will be summonsed to Dedham District Court.

Illegal Dumping on E. Militia Heights Road
Police were called to East Militia Heights Road on Tuesday, Jan. 10 for the report of illegal dumping. Police found a man who was dumping leaves and told him he needed to remove the leaves and dump them in a proper location.

Window Screen Missing
A Chambers Street resident reported on Tuesday, Jan. 10 that a window screen had been removed from his window. No one appeared to have gained access to the home, and the window was not otherwise damaged.

Car Keyed at Library
A Westwood resident reported that someone had keyed her car while it was parked in the lot beside the The incident is believed to have occurred on Dec. 20 and was reported on Jan. 10.
