Police Reports: DPW Vehicle Dented in Hit-and-Run

The following information was supplied by the Needham Police Department. Any charges mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

 

A town employee contacted police on Tuesday, June 21 to report that someone had hit his vehicle while it was parked at the Department of Public Works building and left the scene without notifying anyone. The incident occurred sometime before 11:20 a.m. Damage included a large dent on the vehicle’s rear passenger side, according to police reports.

St. Sebastian’s Student Reports Missing Laptop 
A St. Sebastian’s School student came to the police station on Friday, June 24 to report that his Mac laptop computer had been stolen in October.

The student told police he had left his computer in a cubby hole near the academic building entrance one morning and that the laptop had been missing when he returned after soccer practice. He had not been able to locate the computer since then, according to reports. There was no door or lock on the cubby hole.

Police had no suspects as of early this week. 

Neighbors Argue over Trimmed Tree 
Police were called to an Evelyn Road home on Friday, June 24 for the complaint of a resident cutting tree branches off the trees on their neighbor’s property. Police advised the two residents to have their properties surveyed to determine the exact boundaries, according to reports.

Woman’s Name Used to Open Credit Cards 
A Hillcrest Road resident called police on Friday, June 24 after she received a phone call about a credit card at a local department store that she had never applied for. The woman told police she had learned that someone had tried to open credit accounts in her name at multiple stores. She alerted all of the businesses of the fraudulent activity and contacted the credit bureau as well, according to reports. The stores are conducting additional investigations.

Local Resident Reports Suspicious Phone Calls 
A Jayne Road resident contacted police on Friday, June 24 to complain about a series of suspicious phone calls. The resident told police that the calls had come from a residential line in Needham and that it had been a male who had made the calls, according to reports. After an investigation, police tracked down the person who had allegedly made the calls and told him to stop calling.

Motorcyclist Injured after Falling Off Bike 
A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital last Saturday after he reportedly fell off his bike at the intersection of Charles River Street and Central Avenue.

Police responded to the scene around 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 26 and determined that the operator had taken too wide of a turn and struck the curb, causing him to fall off the motorcycle. He was transported to the hospital by the Needham Fire Department.
