Police Reports: Bicyclist Has ‘Road Rage’

Needham Police were called to Great Plain Avenue near on Friday, Aug. 31 at 10:37 a.m. after a bicyclist and a motorist got into a “road rage”-type verbal argument.

The bicyclist allegedly damaged the motor vehicle antenna before fleeing from the scene. The bicyclist was described as a white male in his 30s with an athletic build. He was wearing a helmet and a shirt with red trim.

Police searched the area but were unable to locate the man.

The vehicle’s antenna had been bent, making it unusable. The driver was advised to contact his insurance company.

Laptop Stolen from Restaurant
A Newton resident reported that her laptop computer was stolen after she left it on Highland Avenue on Thursday, Aug. 30.

Suspicious Calls, Vandalism on Linden Street
A Linden Street resident reported on Friday, Aug. 31 at 12:49 a.m. that someone had been making a series of suspicious phone calls and vandalized her property. The woman was told to contact her telephone service provider and to notify police if any further calls or vandalism occurred. The matter is under investigation.

Resident’s Identity Used to Open Wireless Account
A Putnam Street resident reported on Friday, Aug. 31 that someone had used his name and Social Security number to open a Verizon Wireless phone account. Verizon is investigating.

Skateboards Stolen from Front Porch
Two skateboards were stolen from the front porch of a Sylvan Road home overnight between Friday, Aug. 31 and Saturday, Sept. 1. The boards are valued at $130 each.

Youths Break Neighbor’s Light
Police were called to Grasmere and Ardmore roads on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 9 p.m. for the report of a group of kids hanging out in the street. The witness told police he had heard glass break and that the kids then ran off. Police spoke with an Ardmore Road resident who had his front walk light broken.

Man Arrested for Having Unprescribed Xanax
A Needham man who was stopped by police for driving with a suspended license was also found in unlawful possession of prescription medication on Monday, Sept. 3.

The driver was pulled over on Greendale Avenue near Kenney Street at around 10:31 a.m. and identified himself as the vehicle’s registered owner. During an investigation, the officer allegedly found unprescribed Xanax in the vehicle.

The driver, a 24-year-old Needham man, was arrested for operating after a suspended license and possession of a Class E controlled substance.

Vehicle Vandalized on Grove Street
A Pine Grove Street resident reported that someone had keyed her car and flattened the tires on her vehicle overnight between Sunday, Sept. 2 and Monday, Sept. 3.

High Street Home Broken Into
A High Street resident returned from vacation to find that someone had broken into his home.

The resident contacted police on Monday, Sept. 3 at 4:18 p.m. to report the break-in, which had occurred sometime over the past two weeks while the resident was away. A basement window had been broken and drawers in two bedrooms upstairs had been rifled through. Nothing appeared to be missing.

Police are investigating.
