Pet of the Week: Peter

This gentle, affectionate male cat is available for adoption through Neponset Valley Humane Society.

Submitted by Judy Ambrose, Neponset Valley Humane Society

Peter is a very gentle, mellow, affectionate, neat cat. His foster mom says this big, strong boy is a wonderful companion who is no trouble at all.

He is very lovable. He sleeps at the bottom of the bed quietly through the night. He welcomes attention when it is offered and purrs with contentment. He will cuddle in a lap if given the opportunity.

He enjoys gentle interactive play. He is content to sleep or entertain himself when his foster family is busy with other things.

Peter is about 3 to 4 years old. Peter is a pretty laidback kind of guy and could get along with a welcoming feline companion. We think he would also be very happy as the only pet because he loves people so much.

Peter tested positive for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus), therefore he must be a strictly indoor cat. He loves the safety and comforts of being an indoor cat.

Peter's former owner moved away and left him behind. Thankfully, a neighbor contacted us for help.

Please call Neponset Valley Humane Society at 781-769-1990 or email nvhumanesociety@gmail.com to arrange a meeting with Peter. Due to the severe cat overpopulation problem in our local communities and in an effort to encourage lifelong adoptions, NVHS does not have set adoption fees for our adult cats. We rely on volunteers and donations to help pets in need.

Humane Society News

Spay and neuter: Help every cat find the loving home they deserve by spay/neutering your pet and avoiding accidental litters. Spay/neuter also eliminates the risk of certain cancers and behavior problems. The next NVHS low cost spay/neuter clinic for cats is Tuesday, Aug. 7 in Norwood. Male cat neuters are $75. Female cat spays are $85. Neighborhood and feral cats are free. Financial assistance is available for any cat owner for whom these reduced prices would truly be a financial hardship.

Volunteers needed: The Humane Society is currently in search of volunteers to join our team. If you love animals and have time to help those in need, please contact NVHS. Neponset Valley Humane Society is an all volunteer, all foster care organization dedicated to helping companion animals and feral cats.
