It’s hard to believe the month is half over, but here we are, and Halloween will be here before we know it (not to mention those other holidays).

Signs of the season are all over town, from the changing leaves to the pumpkin spice lattes at your local coffee shop to spooky decorations going up on front porches around town.

For this week’s “You Ask … Patch Answers,” we rounded up information about Halloween plans in Needham—when and where you can take your little ghouls Trick-or-Treating.

Halloween will be on Wednesday, Oct. 31. While the town doesn’t sponsor a "beggars night" that evening, Needham officials say most families head out to the streets around their neighborhoods when it begins to get dark. According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, the local sunset on Oct. 31 will be at 5:39 p.m. (So far, snow isn't in the forecast like it was at Halloween time last year.)

In the Hawthorn Avenue neighborhood, the families meet up earlier for their annual Halloween costume parade. This year, families in that area are invited to meet at the intersection of Hawthorn Avenue and Nichols Road at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31 for photo ops and a short parade around the neighborhood—a standing tradition for about seven years, according to Needham resident Bill Gallagher.

If you’ve got little ones and want to do a daytime Trick-or-Treat, you can sign up for Needham Park and Recreation’s annual Spooky Walk on Saturday, Oct. 20. The first session is full, but children ages 2-8 can still join the second session, which will run from 12:30-1:45 p.m. In the Spooky Walk, children in costume accompanied by adults will Trick-or-Treat at designated shops in downtown Needham. Cost is $3 per child, and every registered child will receive a Trick-or-Treat bag. Register now through Friday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. online at www.needhamma.gov (click on "For Residents" and "Park and Registration Online Recreation").
