NHS Dance Team Honored by Selectmen

Needham team won their third state title on March 11.

Needham selectmen congratulated the Dance Team Tuesday evening on winning their third state title in the past four years.

Board chairman Moe Handel read a proclamation congratulating the team, as the girls and two of their coaches, Paula Callanan and Trish Masi, looked on.

The Needham team won their second championship in a row on March 11 at the Winter State Dance Championships, their third title in the last four years. Their routine featured strong technical skills and music from Whitney Houston and Aerosmith.

Along with winning the state title in 2011, the team performed at half time of the NCAA Orange Bowl in Miami in January. In the fall, they were featured at the MIAA Division 1 Super Bowl game, where the Needham High School football team in school history.

Dance Team members attending the meeting on Tuesday, March 27 included: captain Jayme Agranat, Jacqueline Agranat, Angela Bello, Olivia Bollinger, Lauren Breen, Karissa Chao, Alison Cohan, Isabella Hayes, Claire Keltie, Brianna Koljonen, Juliet Leary, Carly Levinson, Jade Marson, Kelly McEvoy, Lindsey McEvoy, Amanda Michienzi, Anya Olsen, Margaret Olsen, Hannah Star, Kelsey Walsh, Carly Weinstein and Sara Windhorst.

Also attending the meeting were Superintendent Dan Gutekanst and Director of Athletics Micah Hauben.
