Newton-Needham Chamber Names New President
Newton resident Greg Reibman will start his duties as president immediately.
The following is an edited press release from the Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce:
Greg Reibman has been named the new president of the Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce.
Reibman was formerly publisher of the Newton TAB, Needham Times and 15 other Boston-area newspapers and vice president of content and partnerships for GateHouse Media New England's WickedLocal.com. He has also worked at the Boston Herald and WGBH.
Recognized as an expert in organizational leadership and digital media, Reibman also has a long history with the NNCC as a former member of its Board of Directors and as a member of the chamber's Economic Development Committee.
"Greg's experience as a businessman in Newton and Needham, his proven leadership ability, and his long held commitment to the chamber's values and aspirations make him the perfect choice to be our president," said Joseph DeVito, chairman of the NNCC. "We are especially pleased to be bringing in someone who already knows our communities, our elected leaders, our businesses and the challenges we face as we emerge from a long recession."
"I'm thrilled to be running the chamber and to serve two communities that I'm passionate about; only in a new capacity," Reibman said. "I've dedicated my career to advocacy and engagement and while I care deeply about the chamber, I care even more about these communities and their economic and cultural vitality. I can't wait to get to work."
Reibman succeeds Robert Halpin, who is departing from the NNCC this week to become Town Manager in Framingham.
"We are all very appreciative of the job Bob did," Reibman said. "He steered the organization during a very economically challenging time and leaves the chamber in excellent condition and poised to grow."
Reibman, who lives in Newton with his wife Cindy Bailen and their son, Alexi, begins his new duties at the NNCC immediately.
