Needham Goes the 4th (And 5th): Independence Day Festivities

Special events will take place on Sunday and Monday to mark the holiday.

The parades are all standing by, the fireworks loaded and hundreds of flags are prepared to wave proudly in the Needham air. Independence Day has nearly arrived and the Town of Needham will be celebrating, as it always does, in style.

Beginning Sunday, July 4, the Needham Exchange Club will be marking the holiday with a two-day extravaganza.

Memorial Park will play host to events first, with music, food, pony rides and more filling out the card for Sunday evening. Of course, the evening would not be complete without a dazzling fireworks show, which will light up the sky over the park after dark. The festivities continue on Monday, with an entire day filled with events. The day kicks off with a parade and a road race, both taking place in different parts of town. The morning continues with a salute to Old Glory, another parade and music by The Centre Streeters.

Later in the day, Rosemary Pool will see an open swim meet, Memorial Field will host a Little League All-Star Game and the football field will feature children's games. In between all of these events, a flea market will be open and food will be served at Memorial Park. A full list of Sunday's events can be found here.
