Needham Does the Marathon: Finish Times
A look at the results for local runners in the 2012 Boston Marathon.
More than 40 individuals represented Needham in the 2012 Boston Marathon on Monday, April 16.
Peter Hammer was the first Needham resident to cross the finish line at Copley Square, finishing in a time of 2 hours 45 minutes and 46 seconds, according to the Boston Athletic Association website, baa.org. Hammer finished the race 139th out of more than 26,000 participants and second in his age group, men 45-49.
The top female finisher from Needham was Maureen Filippine, with a time of 4 hours 7 minutes and 3 seconds. Filippine was 9,988th overall and came in 557th in her age group, women 40-44.
