Five Things You Need to Know Today: Aug. 31

"Five Things You Need to Know Today" is a Patch column that provides readers with essential, daily information at a glance.

1. Another beauty: We’ll have sunny skies again today with a high around 85 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Clouds will move in toward the evening, and temps will drop to around 58 degrees.

2. Storytime: Children ages 5 and under are invited to drop by the for at 10:00 a.m. The program is free, and registration is not required.

3. See what’s growing: The Needham Community Farm will host today from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Come see what the have been growing, check out the site and learn more about this all-volunteer organization. The farm is located on Pine Street just before the intersection with Charles River Street.

4. Athlete info: All ninth grade athletes and their parent or guardian must attend one of two Athletic Information Nights this fall. The first will be held tonight from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the high school auditorium. Student athletes in all four grades are encouraged to attend. The second information night will be held on Monday, Nov. 14.

5. Golf for a good cause: Organizers of the inaugural are looking for players, sponsors and raffle donations for the event to be held on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at Spring Valley Country Club, 25 Tiot St., Sharon. Rosemary Murphy was a Needham resident for 50 years, and this scholarship in her memory is awarded to a Needham resident who attends Massachusetts Bay Community College.
