Could Aly Raisman be on the front of a Wheaties box soon?
The Needham gymnast recently graced the cover of several magazines, including Sports Illustrated's 2012 Olympics Preview, and was the subject of a two-hour documentary on Comcast SportsNet New England, but now experts are saying the 18-year-old is poised for even bigger fame.
Following her peformance in the qualification round on Sunday, where she earned the second-highest individual score in the competition, Raisman is sure to be noticed by marketing companies, according to an Emerson College marketing professor, who was quoted in a July 31 article on BostonHerald.com.
"She has the makings for an amazing, amazing story that has the potential for oodles of endorsements,” Professor David Gerzof Richard told the Herald.
Wheaties and Nike are among the companies that could pursue Raisman for endorsement deals, Gerzof Richard said.
Raisman will be in action today, competing with Team USA in the team finals, and then will compete Thursday, Aug. 2 in the all-around finals.
