NCYSAP Encourages Parents to 'Make the Call' and Avoid Dangers of Hosting Teen Parties

The Needham Coalition for Youth Substance Abuse Prevention campaign aims to help keep kids safe this prom and graduation season.

With prom and graduation season upon us, the Needham Coalition for Youth Substance Abuse Prevention has launched a new campaign designed to make teens and their parents aware of the dangers of hosting underage drinking parties.

"Nearly 90 percent of Needham parents want other parents to call them if their teen is hosting a gathering," the NCYSAP poster reads, referring to their Spring 2011 Parent Survey of Norms, Behaviors and Attitudes.

The campaign encourages parents to "Make the call," communicate with other parents and help to keep kids safe, according to Carol Read, Substance Abuse Prevention and Education coordinator with the Needham Public Health Department.
