Thank you to Matt Borrelli and his campaign staff for their dedicated effort to engage more people in this election; especially Louise Miller, his campaign manager, and David DiCicco who selflessly put aside his own campaign to ensure that Matt‘s message was heard. To see Selectman Borrelli filling the empty seat on the Board provides promise that the work of Jim Healy will continue; that being, Matt ’s commitment to be a voice for the entire community, a trusted conduit for “we the people“. Matt, his lovely wife Alison, family, and dedicated supporters showed that they have a grasp on the things that matter most in life; the most important, showing others that they care. I conversed with a lot of special people these last few weeks, some were friends from the past, others will become friends for the future, and some I may never meet again; but all will have an everlasting impact on my view of society. The kindness of a man holding a Matt Borrelli sign, who generously and insistently gave up one of his gloves on a cold Saturday, will not be forgotten. A spirit of community is built on these random acts of kindness, people who truly listen to the concerns of others, and those who have the ability to step into someone’s else’s shoes to see the world through wider lenses than their own. I am grateful that our community has given Matt Borrelli and David DiCicco the opportunity to show that they can make a difference in making Needham the best that it can be.
