Aly Raisman's Flippin' Awesome New Show
Needham Olympian launches new web TV series
She's not just a gymnast and Olympic gold medalist, Aly Raisman is adding a new title to her resume: TV host.
She hosts a new Internet-based show called "Flippin' Awesome," in which she counts down the best sports videos the Web has to offer and meets up-and-coming sports starts from around the world, according to a press release from YouTube channel AwesomenessTV.
New episodes will go live (air) on the Web channel every Sunday. After the episodes, fans can vote for their favorite video from the countdown on the Flippin' Awesome Facebook page.
The premiere episode is currently online (embedded right).
After picking up a gold medal in gymnastics, Needham gave the 18-year-old Olympic team captain a welcome home worthy of an Olympian after the London 2012 games, complete with parade and the Aly Rally. She is using her celebrity for a cause, as well, by letting kids know it's OK to say 'no' to booze.
Other recent honors for the local Olympian include dropping the puck before a Bruins game, the AHRC NYC's Thurman Munson Dinner, being named co-Bostonian of the Year in December with her fellow Mass. Olympian, Kayla Harrison. Not to mention the MBTA's Aly Raisman Banner on the Needham line.

From talk shows to sketch comedy, plus scripted and reality, AwesomenessTV allows fans to experience their favorite celebrities in new ways, only on YouTube.
Varsity Pictures, the production entity behind AwesomenessTV, is headed by Brian Robbins (Sonny With A Chance, Smallville, So Random, FRED) and Joe Davola (In Living Color, Smallville, MTV Networks). Robbins’ interest in the YouTube and web video space resulted from the massive success of FRED: THE MOVIE, based on the YouTube sensation Fred Figglhorn (900 million views). After building out the franchise on Nickelodeon (FRED 2: Night of the Living Fred, FRED: THE SHOW, and FRED 3: CAMP FRED), Robbins turned his attention to YouTube and the result is AwesomenessTV, one of the first channels ideated in the YouTube Original Programming initiative.
