Adirondack Chair Auction Set Sept. 29

Bid on many of the colorful chairs that were on display around Needham this summer.

After seeing the colorful Adirondack chairs around Needham this summer, local residents will have the opportunity to bring one or two of them home at an upcoming silent and live auction scheduled Saturday, Sept. 29 at Needham Town Hall.

The "A Chair To Remember" auction event will feature celebrity emcee and auctioneer Susan Wornick of WCVB. All of the uniquely painted chairs—about 50—and a variety of other items will be auctioned off at the event, with proceeds to benefit town beautification projects and scholarships for local youth.

All the chairs will be on display in Powers Hall on the second floor of Needham Town Hall from Tuesday, Sept. 25 through the day of the auction.

The event will begin with a silent auction and cocktail hour from 6-7 p.m. followed by a live auction at 7:30 p.m. Local musicians will provide music throughout the evening as well.

"We are planning on a wonderful community event," said Nancy Wright, owner of Perennial Designs and a member of the Needham Merchants Association, which organized the "A Chair To Remember" project.

Tickets to this event cost $10 per person and will include cocktails and light refreshments. A limited number of tickets are available and can be purchased at Perennial Designs, Taylor's Stationery, The Grey Goose, Black Sheep Knitting Co., The Center Cafe (cash only) and at the door the night of the event.

Needham Patch has been featuring profiles of the artists behind many of the "A Chair To Remember" pieces. Read all about them here.
