5 Things You Need To Know Today: Aug. 3

1. Mostly sunny: Clouds will increase throughout the day today, with showers and thunderstorms possible, mainly after 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. High: 92, Low: 70. Chance of precipitation: 30 percent.

2. Find what you need: The Needham Community Council Thrift Shop is open every Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stop by to find deals on “new to you” clothing and small household items. Customers should use the entrance to the left side of the building.

3. Game night: Carter Memorial United Methodist Church hosts a free game night on the first Friday of every month in the church parlor at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. For information, call the church at 781-444-2460.

4. On stage: Check out Needham resident Nicole Pavol in Newton Country Players' summer musical, "Zanna, Don't!," which opens today at MassBay Community College in Wellesley Hills.
