Needham Youth Services is launching a new mentoring program this fall. The VIP Program—Valuable Interactions among Peers—is a peer mentoring program that matches a Needham High School student (these students are the “Big VIPs”) with a student in third to fifth grade to provide social interaction for the younger student (these students are the “Little VIPs”). The students will meet once a week, supervised by two Youth Services staff. During their time together, the VIPs will play games, participate in activities, share stories and talk with one another.
Youth Services is accepting applications for both Little and Big VIPS. Little VIPS, those who will be mentored, should be in grades 3-5. Eighth graders who will be entering ninth grade in September are encouraged to apply to become Big VIPs. All Big VIPs are eligible for Community Classroom Credit. Applications are available at the Needham Youth Services office at 500 Dedham Ave, or online at www.needhamma.gov/youth/VIP .
