Track Work to Cause Delays to Needham Commuter Rail

  • August 21, 2011

On Saturday, Aug. 27 and Sunday Aug. 28, the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Railroad Company will perform track work on the Needham commuter rail line between the Needham Center and Needham Heights stations. This essential track work, which is necessary for safe, reliable service, is scheduled on a weekend to minimize customer impact.

On Saturday, Aug. 27, all inbound and outbound trains will terminate and originate at Needham Center Station. Buses will be available to shuttle passengers between Needham Center and Needham Heights station. There are no scheduled trains on the Needham Branch on Sunday.

Delays of up to 15 minutes are expected on the following trains:

INBOUND: 1602, 1604, 1606, 1608, 1610, 1612, 1614, 1616, 1618

OUTBOUND: 1601, 1603, 1605, 1607, 1609, 1611, 1615, 1617

This project reflects MBCR’s commitment to provide passengers with enhanced service reliability, and is an important part of our overall plan to continually maintain and improve railroad system infrastructure.

MBCR apologizes for any inconvenience this essential track work causes.
