In the week following Halloween, Needham students collected more than 1,020 pounds of candy to send to troops from New England who are serving overseas.  

With the support of the Parent Teacher Councils at each school, students from the Needham Early Childhood Center (town-wide preschool program), and the Eliot, Hillside, Mitchell and Newman elementary schools donated candy they collected on Halloween.

Several Newman students also wrote letters to send to the troops.  

All the candy was donated to New England Caring for Our Military Inc. (NECFOM) who will send it abroad. Several candy packages will be sent to servicemen and women with Needham ties.
