SINGERS WELCOME
Singers are welcome to sing with the Needham Interfaith Choir for the town-wide event on Sunday, September 11th, at 5:00 pm at Memorial Park, "Let there be peace on earth:" Observance of the 10th Anniversary of 9/11. The Choir will sing two anthems and two hymns, with Bobby DeRegis from The Congregational Church in Needham, and Millie Beane from Carter Memorial United Methodist Church, conducting. There will be two rehearsals which will both take place at Christ Episcopal Church: Thursday, September 1, 7:30-9:00 pm, and Wednesday, September 7, 7:30-9:00 pm.
The two anthems are: When Sudden Terror Tears Apart, with text by Carl P. Daw, Jr., and music by Brad Printz. Carl Daw wrote this text in 2001 shortly after the tragedy; the text begins with the tragedy and concludes with a prayer for peace and hope. The second anthem is Let There Be Peace on Earth, by Miller and Jackson. The two hymns will be America, the Beautiful, with audience participation, and This Is My Song, by Jean Sibelius, using the Lloyd Stone text on peace among the nations.
