Positive Coaching Alliance Workshop for Youth Sports Parents, Coaches
The Needham High School Athletic Department will present a Positive Coaching Alliance Workshop for youth sport parents and coaches, followed by a Needham Public Health Department concussion policy presentation, on Thursday, April 26. The program will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Newman Elementary School auditorium.
Open to all Needham Youth Sport Parents and Coaches, this workshop will present a great opportunity for community members to work on developing and strengthening the skills necessary to improve the culture and environment for all children participating in youth sports in Needham.
Workshop topics will include:
- How parents can help ensure their youth-athletes’ experiences yield healthy, developmental outcomes that will serve them far beyond the playing field;
- Guidelines for developing strong coach/parent relationships;
- Defining and discussing the Double-Goal coach model, one that stresses preparing athletes/teams to compete at a high level, while at the same time teaching life lessons related to teamwork, dedication, bouncing back from mistakes and more.
Presenters will include Eric Eisendrath—PCA lead trainer and an Ivy League athlete, high school and youth coach—and Tracy Jones, a college athlete and coach.
Thanks to support from the Needham Education Foundation, this program is free and open to all. All parents and coaches who attend the interactive workshop will receive a PCA workbook. Registration is not required.
