Plugged In Offers Summer Evening Music Program
The Plugged In Band Program in Needham is offering a new summer program for musicians 18-22 years old. The 1-1/2-hour evening jam sessions will take place 1-2 times per week for five weeks. Musicians can also sign up for an optional recording session and performances.
Jam sessions will be led by Berklee trained Plugged In staff.
Plugged In created this program for musicians who may be home from college for the summer, are working during the day and may not have a network of local musicians with whom to play.
Musicians can sign up and be placed with other similarly aged musicians and/or sign up as a band.
Plugged In's summer program for kids ages 8-17 is still accepting applications, as well. The summer session will run from June 25 to July 27 and will include two 1-1/2-hour ensemble band classes per week, as well as a 2-hour workshop each Friday. The Friday workshops will include songwriting and recording in a studio. There will be a weekly open jam on Friday evenings, as well as a number of performances, including the final summer session concert, which will be a benefit concert for a charitable organization chosen by the students.
The registration deadline for either program is June 15. For more information about either Plugged In Summer Session, visit www.pluggedinband.org, e-mail srizkallah@comcast.net or call 781-956-4281.
