Jumpstart, a national early education organization, hosted its annual Scribbles to Novels event in Boston on Thursday, May 3.

Scribbles to Novels is a unique fundraising event that provides attendees with the opportunity to meet acclaimed authors in an intimate setting.

This year’s featured authors were Ace Atkins, acclaimed mystery novelist; Joanne Chang, chef and owner of Flour Bakeryand the Myers+Chang restaurant; Ron Della Chiesa, Boston-area radio personality; Andre Dubus III, New York Times bestselling author; Hank Phillippi Ryan, Emmy award winning investigative journalist; and Peter Reynolds, Emmy award winning children’s book author/illustrator.

Scribbles to Novels featured author signings of books as well as a roundtable discussion highlighting the importance of literature and education in the authors’ lives, raising awareness of Jumpstart’s mission to work toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed.

Award-winning reporter, columnist, television analyst and New York Times bestselling author Jonathan Alter served as the event keynote. Special guest Bridget Moynahan, star of CBS hit drama "Blue Bloods," was also in attendance and addressed attendees with words of support for Jumpstart.
