Newton-Needham Chamber Launches New Buddy Group

The Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce plans to launch a new networking program for business professionals who are in career transition or seeking new job opportunities.

The Newton-Needham Buddy Group will be run by Joe Sanroma, who has 10 years of experience running a similar program at the Newton Free Library. The group will meet weekly at the chamber’s office at 281 Needham St. in Newton. Participation is free and membership in the chamber is not required. However, seating is limited and advance registration is required.

“We’re really excited to be working with Joe on this program because we see job growth and nurturing careers as part of our overall mission,” said Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce President Greg Reibman. “The Buddy Group concept is all about helping individuals set agendas, swap resumes, practice elevator speeches and trade contacts.”

Sanroma said he was pleased that the chamber sees value in the Buddy Group approach.

“We’ll meet first thing Monday morning to give the week a kick start for those in transition or seeking a new job,” Sanroma said. “Please drop me a note at jsanroma@computer.org if you are interested."
