Needham To Hold Medication Take-Back Day

Needham health and public safety officials encourage residents to dispose of their unused and expired medications at the upcoming Medication Take-Back Day, to be held Saturday, Sept. 29.

Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., residents can safely dispose of unwanted, unused and expired medications at a drop-off area in the front, circular driveway of the Needham Police Department. Disposing of medications in this way helps to prevent improper access.

Residents are reminded to check the expiration dates on all medications in their home, including over-the-counter items such as cough, cold and allergy medications, as well as prescription drugs. Note: Needles, thermometers, medical waste or illicit drugs such as cocaine or marijuana will not be accepted.

Can’t make the disposal event? Safe medication disposal is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the Needham Police Department lobby. A secure disposal unit is located on-site.

Medication Take-Back Day is presented as a joint partnership of the Needham Public Health Department, the Needham Police Department and the Needham Coalition for Youth Substance Abuse Prevention (NCYSAP).
