Needham Resident Named to MetroWest Foundation Board of Trustees
Foundation for MetroWest announced Monday, May 21 that it has elected three new members to its Board of Trustees.
Tom Crotty, David Perini and Kyle Schaffer were voted onto the board at a recent Foundation for MetroWest board meeting. The new slate of trustees joins 14 additional members currently serving on the board. Each member will serve a three-year term.
“The Foundation for MetroWest is honored to welcome these three distinguished members of the community to our Board of Directors,” said Foundation for MetroWest executive director Judith Salerno. “Each board member brings a set of skills and experiences to the Foundation that helps guide us as we serve the residents of this dynamic region and we thank Tom, David, and Kyle for their willingness to contribute.”
Crotty is the managing partner at Battery Ventures. He co-founded a small Boston based organization, Hub Financial Charities, which was formed in the aftermath of 9-11 to financially support families at risk of economic impoverishment due to the tragic loss of a key breadwinner.
He has also served since 2007 on the board of Grassroot Soccer (GRS), a leading organization in the fight against AIDS in Africa, working to help GRS realize its vision of a world mobilized through soccer to create an AIDS-free generation. He resides in Southborough.
Prior to his retirement 2011, Perini was the Commissioner of the Division of Capital Asset Management for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He retired from Perini Corporation in 1999 as Chairman Emeritus after a 37-year career.
Perini is a former board member of the Boston College Law School Board of Advisors, a Trustee of College of the Holy Cross, Trustee of St. John’s Prep and The Boston Architectural College. He also served as chairman of the Massachusetts Alliance for Small Contractors from 1996 to 1998.
He is a trustee of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and a director of North Hill (CCRC), Needham. Perini resides in Dover.
Schaffer is managing director at Ballentine Partners. He is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. In addition to becoming a trustee, Schaffer will serve as chair of the Foundation for MetroWest Investment Committee. He resides in Needham.
