The Needham Track Club's annual Great Bear Run will be held on Sunday, May 6 at Pollard Middle School. The popular event includes races for all ages, from toddlers to seniors. All proceeds will benefit prostate cancer research.
Events include a 5K run, 1-mile run, 1-mile Prostate Cancer Walk and several kids races. All runners receive a medal or trophy, and all participating youth runners will receive teddy bears.Winners of the 5K race receive $100. Participants also receive a Great Bear Run T-shirt.
The event also includes refreshments, live entertainment, a magic show, face painting, crafts and a visit from the Great Bear.
Runners can pick up their T-shirts and runner numbers between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. the day before the event, on Saturday, May 5, in the Pollard School parking lot. Items also can be picked up on race day.
The first race is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., with the final race scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
Cost is $16 for children ages 0-14 (including T-shirt if received by April 29) and $18 for adults ages 15 and up, through April 29. Adult registration costs $20 if completed between April 30 and May 3 and $22 if done May 4-6.
