Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham is now as close as your smart phone. The hospital has launched a mobile website that allows anyone with an iPhone, Android or newer generation Blackberry to access Emergency Department wait times, directions and maps, plus information about all of BID-Needham’s departments and their phone numbers. Users can even select a primary care physician right on their smart phone.

A recent study from the Pew Research Center shows looking for health care information is the third most popular online activity.

“In this digital age people expect information in real time,” said BID-Needham President and CEO John Fogarty. “Having a mobile site provides our communities with that information whether people are at home on their personal computers or out with their smart phones. It’s our way of always staying connected with our patients and the community.”
